Another water soluble oil paint convert

by Gary Bejai
(Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A)

I have used water mixable oil paints since they came on the market, about decades ago! I can not say how much I like them. I do use traditional oil paints most of the time. I mainly take my water mixable paints for the trips so I do not have to find the solvents when I get to my destination. The paints dry about the same rate like traditional paints, probably slightly faster. This is just my own observation. I have not tested them yet. I think that the water mixable oil medium also helps speeding up the drying.

To clean the brushes between the painting sessions, I do notice that the paints have to be washed more thoroughly. I will have to wipe the paints off the brushes vigorously, otherwise the muddy residue will tend to stay on, compared with cleaning them with turpentine. I also change the water often to ensure that I got a clean start every time I paint. Obviously if this is not the way you work, a jar of water will also last for a long time. This is just the way I prefer to work.

Great site, keep up the good work!
